First marriage, now this!

Harvey Milk Day: official designation

Happy Harvey Milk Day, everyone!

On the previous topic, I heard that Ellen DeGeneres is marrying her hot hot girlfriend, Portia de Rossi.

All Ellen has to do is show up on set without her new wife, show the ring to the camera, and start crying, and that’s the end of American Moms’ bigotry toward gay marriage.

The daytime television set loves her – they will strongly empathize with her desire to share her life with whom she wants.

This is so cool I cannot express myself like an adult human…

But wait, there’s more – click the link to find out what this thing is…

The Republican National Committee just put up the website “Can We Ask?” attempting to get people to ask Senator Obama the tough questions. They have his image, and no obvious bent to the site, and it looks like good PR for his campaign.

Funny enough, judging from the questions, it seems like most people are asking honest questions that are of the kind that, if answered sufficiently, would be just what the asking party needs to have a clean conscious in voting for the questionee.

Here’s mine…

Senator Obama,

Why did you oppose a costly and illegal war of aggression against another sovereign state and its people when opposition was obviously against the wishes of the President?

How can you simply explain away this kind of independent thought and demand for accountability on the part of our highest elected officials?

Thank you in advance for your answer,

Duane

Obama offices searched after bomb threat call
Officials evacuate the 3 campaign offices as voters cast ballots in primary

TERRE HAUTE, Indiana – Authorities evacuated and searched three Barack Obama campaign offices in Indiana Tuesday in response to a bomb threat made while people voted in the state’s primary.

The bomb threats were made in a call to a Terre Haute television station. Lewis Robinson of the Secret Service’s Indianapolis office said the caller made threats against Obama offices in Terre Haute, Vincennes and Evansville.

Obama spokesman Kevin Griffis said workers left the offices and continued working by making cell phone calls.

The reports mirror the circumstances of Obama’s office in Vincennes being vandalized early Monday morning. In that incident, a male caller also reported the vandalism to a station in Terre Haute.

And you wonder why we all left as soon as we could?

You had the chance to vote for the next Robert Kennedy, for the next Ronald Reagan – someone who was not just very effective at playing politics, but rather someone who changed the very nature of the discussion.

You had the chance to vote for someone who says “yes we can” as one America – no blue states, no red states – not someone who played to your most primitive 3am fears.

Instead, what did you do? You voted against the black man. For the same reason you stay in your isolated, racist community.

My home town is openly racist, they hate black people there. Actively. They hate black people so much that they voted in favor of the previous root of all evil to vote against a black person.
You can see it in their hateful eyes, you can see it on the KKK shirts that were popular at the 2005 Aurora Farmers’ Fair.

Dearborn County, Indiana: you deserve to be left behind as the rest of the world marches toward prosperity in the global economy. You have become so blinded by scapegoating and xenophobia that you have lost the once proud spirit of fine craftsmanship, hard work, and quiet accomplishment that you had for so long.

You are the worst and most bovine of all middle America. You have no positive spirit or sense of accomplishment anymore, and I have never been more ashamed.
Now go back to your oxycontin and methamphetamine and your Wal-Mart job.

Excuse me. I’ll be somewhere else. Doing something with my life. Voting for someone who doesn’t look like me. Holding out hope that as one nation, as one proud and determined people, that yes we can. To whatever lies in front of us.

Yes we can, you just chose not to. Enjoy the consequences.

Regards,
